SCARS AFTER ACNE
The Most Effective Treatments for Acne Scars at DermoCosmetic
DermoCosmetic is a cosmetic dermatology clinic and one of the few clinics in Denmark that offers customized treatments tailored to your specific type of acne scars. You will be treated using the most effective methods by both dermatologists and specialized nurses.
What Results Can You Expect?'
You can expect the best results in Denmark. We treat you with the highest quality using our extensive range of laser equipment specifically designed for acne scars. We also utilize the most advanced medical and surgical methods available at an international level.
Most cosmetic dermatology clinics can only offer acne scar treatments using a single type of laser or superficial peels. This does not always provide the best results. At DermoCosmetic, we have multiple types of lasers.
We are experts in treating all forms of acne scars, including the most severe and complex types that cannot be treated with laser alone. We save you from expensive and ineffective treatments. If we cannot reduce your scars, no one can!
Before Treatment
Initially, you will meet with one of our dermatologists, who will identify your type of acne scars and design a precise treatment plan to ensure smooth and beautiful skin.
You will receive a thorough explanation of your entire treatment process from A to Z, with ample time to have all your questions answered, so you feel safe and ready to begin your treatments.
Treatment Process
At DermoCosmetic, there are two types of acne scar treatment plans: one for mild to moderate acne scars and another for severe acne scars.
If you have mild, superficial to moderate acne scars without deep indentations, we always treat them with laser. We use a variety of lasers, each working at different layers of the skin. Your treatment will be carried out by both highly trained nurses and dermatologists.
Six months after your final treatment, you will have a follow-up appointment with one of our dermatologists.
If you have severe acne scars, your treatment will initially be performed by a dermatologist without using a laser. This is because it is essential to first repair deep indentations or uneven areas, as this reduces the number of laser treatments needed afterward.
We use the most advanced medical and surgical methods to treat severe scars:Once the initial treatment is completed, you will be ready for laser treatment, performed by both dermatologists and highly trained nurses. We use a combination of lasers that work at different depths of the skin, including:
-
Subcision (surgical release of the skin) and fillers – if you have rolling scars
-
TCA Cross – if you have icepick scars or box scars
-
Corticosteroid injections – if you have thickened or keloid scars
-
ICON Fractional Laser Er: Glass 1540 nm – from the American company Cynosure
Six months after your final treatment, you will have a follow-up appointment with one of our dermatologists.

SCARS AFTER TATTOO REMOVAL
Scars After Tattooing and Tattoo Removal Can Be Reduced
After having a tattoo removed, you are often left with scars on your skin. The scar may have occurred during the tattooing process or when your tattoo was removed using subpar laser equipment. At DermoCosmetic, we can help you reduce the appearance of these scars. As a dermatology clinic, we guarantee safety and comfort in your treatment.
What Results Can You Expect?
You can expect a significant reduction in your scars after a tattoo or tattoo removal. We use the latest, most modern, and highest quality Pico laser on the market: Discovery Pico by Quanta. If you have thick, raised scars (keloid scars), we use injections with Kenalog (corticosteroid) to reduce the scar tissue and make the skin appear more even and smooth.
The treatment is the fastest and least painful way to reduce your scars. From the start of your first treatment, the Pico laser begins repairing the scars and removing damaged skin cells with its microscopic laser beams. This stimulates your body’s natural healing process, replacing the damaged skin cells with new, healthy skin cells. The result is a significant reduction in the appearance of the scars.
Treatment for scars after tattooing / tattoo removal is available at our clinics in Copenhagen, Skodsborg, and Aalborg.
SCARS FROM BURNS AND SURGERIES ARE TREATED EFFECTIVELY.
Effective laser treatment for scars from burns and surgeries with minimal intervention to the skin surface.
At DermoCosmetic cosmetic dermatology clinic, you will be treated with the most effective methods by specially trained nurses. We use only high-quality laser equipment, and we are specialists in the treatment of scars from surgery and burns.
What results can you expect?
You can expect the best results in Denmark. We treat you with the highest quality in our wide range of laser equipment, specially designed for scars from surgeries and burns.
Most clinics can only offer scar treatment with one type of laser or superficial peels. This doesn’t always give you the best result. We save you from costly and ineffective treatments. If we can’t reduce your scars, no one can!
From the start of your first treatment, the repair of the damage begins, and the body activates a rejuvenation process where new, fresh skin is formed. The skin’s cells are "restarted" to produce new connective tissue. The effect is cellular renewal, a significant collagen improvement, and ultimately, a significant reduction of the scars.
It is important that scar treatment after surgery begins as early as possible, and studies have shown that even treating scars with laser before the surgery itself prevents and creates better healing after surgery. In other words, you can’t start laser treatment on your scars too early.
Before Treatment
During the consultation, we identify the severity of your scars and plan a treatment course that ensures you achieve the best possible result. Before deciding to begin treatment for your scars, it is important to know that scars from burns or surgeries can be reduced, but they can never be completely removed. Book a free consultation here.
You will be thoroughly informed about the entire treatment process from A to Z, and ample time will be set aside for you to ask any questions, so you can feel comfortable and ready to begin treatment. Treatments can start without hesitation, meaning the same day.
Treatment Course
We offer treatment with well-documented and high-quality fractional lasers: Fractional laser 1540nm and/or fractional Pico laser. These laser types are non-ablative: The surface of your skin remains intact, and you avoid open wounds. About 4 weeks should pass between treatments. In severe cases of scarring, Co2 laser may be considered.

STRETCH MARKS
Reduce your stretch marks by up to 80% with Pico laser.
Stretch marks can never be completely removed, but with the Pico Discovery laser, they can be reduced by up to 80%. This is the most modern, fastest, and least painful method. Your skin's surface is left intact, meaning you avoid any wounds during or after the treatment.
Results You Can Expect
At DermoCosmetic, we offer the most effective treatment method: Fractionated Pico laser. Stretch marks can never be completely removed, but with the Pico laser, they can be reduced by up to 80%.
Pico laser is the most modern method for reducing stretch marks. The treatment is the fastest and least painful method. Another advantage of Pico laser treatment for stretch marks is that it leaves your skin's surface intact, meaning you avoid any wounds during or after the treatment.
From the start of your first treatment, the Pico laser works by removing the damaged skin cells with its microscopic laser beams. The natural healing process is stimulated, and the damaged skin cells are replaced with new, healthy skin cells. The result is a significant reduction in your stretch marks.
Before Treatment
You will attend a free consultation where you will be thoroughly informed about your entire treatment process from A to Z. Ample time is set aside for you to ask any questions, so you can feel safe and ready to begin the treatments. Book your free consultation here.
A specialized nurse will assess your stretch marks, and together you will align expectations for the treatment result. Your treatment plan will be scheduled, and the first treatments will be planned.
Treatment Process
You will be treated with a minimum of 4 weeks between each laser treatment. On average, you can expect 4-6 treatments.
The number of treatments depends on several factors:
-
The extent of the stretch marks (small or large areas)
-
The severity (new or old stretch marks, depth)
-
Your skin’s ability to regenerate new skin cells
-
Your expectations for the result (when you think the stretch marks have been reduced enough)
Treatment for stretch marks is offered at our clinics in Copenhagen and Skodsborg.

TCA CROSS
Scars suitable for TCA cross treatment include deep acne scars or scars and holes in the skin after piercing. Acne scars of the "icepick scars" type (issyl acne scars) are especially suitable for treatment with the TCA cross method.
TCA cross is a highly effective method for treating deep scars in the skin that are otherwise difficult to treat with other methods.
TCA cross is applied locally to smaller areas of the skin and can be combined with other treatment methods such as subcision or dermapen. Once these deep scars have "raised" to the level of the surrounding less deep scars, a laser treatment may be suitable.
You can be treated on the same day as your consultation.
What is the effect of TCA cross treatment?
TCA cross works by local acid application to a well-defined area of the skin. Fibroblast cells in the deeper layers of the skin are stimulated to produce new connective tissue, causing the bottom of the scar to raise and the scar to level out. In this way, scar tissue is reorganized, leading to an increase in connective tissue, volume growth, increased elasticity, and collagen production in the skin.
The first results can be seen after just a few weeks. You should expect to need repeat treatments after 2-4 weeks. To achieve the final result, treatment is typically carried out up to 3-4 times until the scars have "raised" to the level of the surrounding skin.
The effect is particularly impressive. In many cases, scars can be completely smoothed out after just a few treatments. Documentation from scientific studies shows that there is a 70-100% reduction of scars treated with the TCA cross method.
SUBCISION
Subcision is a simple and minimally invasive surgical procedure used to treat depressed scars (e.g., scars from severe acne). Deep scars are often anchored in the deeper layers of the skin with scar tissue threads, which can only be loosened surgically.
Depressed scars of the "rolling scars" type can only be loosened surgically because they are anchored in the deeper layers of the skin with scar tissue threads. If you have depressed scars from severe acne, laser treatment will not be sufficient to raise the skin to the level of the surrounding tissue. Instead, a professional cosmetic dermatology clinic offers treatment with subcision.
Subcision involves a simple, minimally invasive surgical procedure that is particularly effective for treating depressed scars in the skin, which result from severe cases of acne. The surgical procedure results in long-lasting smoothing of the deeply scarred skin.
Most people have a combination of different types of scars, so it is often necessary to use different types of scar treatments to achieve the best results. Subcision can be effectively combined with TCA cross, Dermapen/dermaroller (microneedling), and subsequent laser treatments.
How does subcision work?
Before the surgical procedure, the deep scars are disinfected and locally anesthetized.
Next, the deep scar tissue is loosened under the scar using a special needle with a sharp blade on the side. The base of the scar and the scar itself are smoothed out. The skin is compressed and cooled with an ice pack to close any small bleeding blood vessels. Afterward, an antibacterial ointment is applied to the skin.
What is the effect of subcision for deep scars?
The result is often very satisfactory, and the effects of the treatment are long-lasting—unlike many other treatment methods involving injections such as filler.
Quality and safety in the treatment of deep scars with the subcision method
As with any surgical procedure, there is a risk of bleeding and infection. However, the treatment is carried out very superficially in the skin, with no risk of damage to deep blood vessels or nerves.
Minor bleeding during and after the procedure is inevitable, as the upper layers of the skin are supplied with small blood vessels. Minor swelling and discoloration should be expected in the treated area. These will disappear within 1 week to 10 days.
In rare cases, minor blood accumulation can be treated with corticosteroids.
